homeschool fun

Our homeschool journey has been amazing this year! It is hard to believe the school year is almost over! Yes there has been pouty frustrating days but for the most part it has been wonderful. The only negative and not even really a big negative in the grand scheme of things is I have not been able to keep the house as tidy as I would like. Homeschooling, working part-time, childrens church leaders, and family time keeps me busy so keeping everything in tip top shape is not always possible but thats ok. Dalton has been so happy this year and in both my children I have seen there walk with God grow stronger because they are in a better enviroment. I did not like the things Dalton was being "fed" in public school and he was unhappy alot. Today has been a great day, we spent most of the day doing school outside and I would let them have breaks to play in the sand and they were happy, happy, happy and did there work so well. Rewards after school work was playing in the sprinkler and splashing around in a cold pool. Hopefully it will warm up soon so they can "swim"! They have had great field trips! They have seen Christian ballet, sang at the nursing home, been to new stage to see plays, science museum, ag museum, and much more. They have learned so much in and out of the classroom. Sometimes I wonder are they learning enough, are they getting behind what others are learning in public school and then I think of all they have got to experience and how happy they are and all the worries fade away. They are only little once...let them be little. Let them play in the sand and then come have a math lesson, and let them have lots of field trips (the world is a classroom)! These pictures are just a few of many that I have taking this yr. We will take homeschooling one year at a time and one day they may go back to public school or full-time private school but for now I would not have it any other way! Jackson Classical homeschool program has been wonderful!

Priceless!

During the course of kindergarten/1st grade Dalton had trouble with focus and health. He was diagnosed with PANDAS at the end of kindergarten. This is an autoimmune disorder that is caused by strep. It affects his ability to focus, causes him to have facial and verbal tics, joint pain, seperation anxiety/emotions are affected, and diffuculty sleepy when he is having flare ups and other issues. A combination of health and him being extremely smart caused many issues at school and we began praying about homeschool. I had all ready been doing preschool at home with Rose and loved teaching her. God just began to show us signs that this was right and so in August we began our homeschool journey. We are loving this experience and so glad God opened the doors for us to be able to participate in the Jackson Classical Homeschool Program. They go to school two days a week and do school at home three days a week. This program is wonderful and Dalton and Rose are both loving it so much. We are going to take it year by year but for now it works for us!

To funny!

Well I have not blogged since October, shame on me! Life has been fun and busy! Dalton is doing wonderful in school and scored 40 points above the national average on a national test. His reading abilities amazes everyone and his writing and drawings is catching up!!! He still loves his trains and anything with wheels! He is also loving superheros and will play his second year of ball this spring.

Rose is getting more and more social everyday. She is quite the little sassy princess. She loves everything girly: barbies, ponies, polly pocket, little pets and anything pink and purple! I have started a preschool program with her and she is doing wonderful and has started writing several of her letters! The other night she had been eating chocolate and was getting another piece and we both were telling her no more and she said "Oh Yeah" ...lol...sassy and nothing comes b/t a girl and her chocolate. We were passing by a tree with lights and she said oh mommy look at the "descorations (decorations) they are soooooo beautiful" she is very dramatic. She is having her first pajama party tonight with her julianna and they are having a blast. Will post pics later!
